Les Miserables

I saw Les Mis yesterday! It was mind-blowingly incredible...I mean I was already familiar with it but seeing it properly for the first time was amazing. The cast were so wonderful, I also met Sierra Boggess (you can imagine I was quite excited) and gave her the little Fantine I made (this fav.me/d5i6lma).  She was really nice :). We had pretty nice seats too. Arrgh I haven't really sorted out my feelings yet. I just love everything.
I hope I can make this jounral a little bit more coherent at some point...

I promised myself I'd see Les Mis before the movie comes out, and I bought tickets for the 27th of November yesterday. I am crazy excited :D

Yesterday me, my sister and a friend went to watch Wicked and the current cast's last Phantom show, for whom I'd drawn pictures as presents and was super looking forward to seeing.

Wicked was amazing! Gina was away, we knew that in advance, but I assumed we'd have Chloe Taylor not Charlotte Scott....I'd never seen her so I didn't know what to expect, but I was so pleasantly surprised! She definitely takes the rank as one of my favourite Glindas, her singing (especially as Galinda) was like some amazing mix of Kristin and Lou Dearman which I loved, her acting was brilliant...her high Cs weren't as effortlessly pretty as some other Glindas but honestly I didn't care at all. She was wonderful. And we finally saw Rachel Tucker! This is the third time I've seen the show and Rachel was ill both times before, and I really wanted to see her before she leaves...it was totally worth it. The only annoying thing was we were sat by the MOST ANNOYING PEOPLE EVER. They brought loads of popcorn and crisps with them (?!) and were just eating that really noisily throughout the whole show, and singing so badly to all the songs...one of them tried to do Glinda's top part in the Finale before Charlotte actually started singing, it was horribly embarrassing.....everyone around them just turned around and gave them a dirty look. And by the end they'd gotten their popcorn EVERYWHERE and thrown all their rubbish on the floor......we got so furious :L theatres are not cinemas people arrrgh. Though I still managed to bawl my eyes out during For Good....honestly, try watching Wicked when you and all your friends are scattering to opposite ends of the country to go to uni and you'll know what I mean!

Then it was Phantom time! The last time I will ever see Killian Donnelly as Raoul *sobs*. Everyone was fantastic as always, unfortunately Sofia Escobar had had a wardrobe mishap in the matinee that day and been stuck in the wrong wedding dress for the Final Lair, which happened to be too big for her. She tripped over it and broke her thumb on stage! Poor thing! She was upset to miss Killian, Peter, Wendy and Jeremy's last show and had to spend it in hospital :( so I didn't get to give her the picture I drew for her. However we had the lovely Claire Doyle as Christine which was also wonderful. Peter Jöback sang brilliantly! He got a standing ovation, and he totally deserved it, it was the best I've ever heard him sing...his final lines at the end were just gorgeous. Killian was charming, Wendy was wonderful.....such a good show! However...I really like to Stage Door the cast afterwards, and we waited for an hour for them to come out (as I said I'd drawn them pictures aha), and Peter was pretty quick but the rest were all deservedly celebrating upstairs which was a shame, I'd have really liked to have met Wendy before she went back to Ireland because she's nice to me on Twitter :L. However we had a bus to catch and had to dash off with 20 minutes to get from Haymarket to Victoria, so I left my pictures with some more patient fans still waiting and ran off. Unfortunately we missed the last coach home, and had to spend 7 hours sitting in (FREEZING!!) Victoria Station from midnight till 7am, to get the earliest coach back at 8 o'clock. We weren't allowed to sleep in the station so I haven't actually slept since 6am yesterday....but you know what?

It was totally worth it.

Here are the pictures I drew the Phantom cast:

Sorry about the bad quality, I didn't have enough time to scan them before I gave them away! :L

University

As some of you may know, today is A-level results day- and I got into my first choice university! I will henceforth be studying biology at Exeter university :). I know this is rather off the usual topic, and feel free to ignore this journal, I just felt the need to post it (I was rather doubtful I'd get in as my entry grades were AAB).

Who else is really excited about London theatre next year? What with the Cats revival tour (:D :D) and Louise Dearman coming back to Wicked to play Elphaba....I'm all excited!!
About Cats, would it be really weird to go to the theatre dressed as a Jellicle cat? Because I've been working on a Jemima costume, and going to see Cats, on my birthday, as a Jellicle cat, just sounds like the most epic thing in the world.

I also bought Phantom tickets for the current cast's last show. I'll be sad about Killian going :( he was an awesome Raoul. Not to mention my all time favourite Carlotta, Wendy Ferguson will also be leaving :(.
Time to book Wicked matinee tickets too, and September 1st will be an epic day :) :)

Are any of you guys going to the theatre soon?
